Diffusers for the Top Brands

Doterra

There are over 3000 identified varieties of aromatic compounds, each with its unique purpose for plants. Scents from an orange, a tree, or even a petal have a purpose in nature. Some scents ward off insects, while others attracts bees for pollination. Distilled directly from their plant sources, essential oils are multifaceted agents that have endless applications.  doTerra essential oils focuses on the harvest of the oils locations and time of year. Like fruit, it needs to be picked just at the right moment to get the peak flavor.  doTerra growers from around the world practice ideal extract composition and efficacy.  Each essential oil is tested and certified to be Pure Theraputic Grade before doTerra distributes it.  This guarantees the product is the upmost quality for naturally safe, and effective therapeutic- grade doTerra essential oil. doTerra relies on the growers years of experience and knowledge to know the art of creating the essential oil.  In addition, the use of modern technology helps to make the process very efficient.  DoTerra uses the low-heat steam distillation process. This is where the pressurized steam is circulated through the plant material.  The essential oil is then freed from the plant and carried away with the steam.   As the steam temperature is lowered, the steam turns to water and the oil is collected.

One of doTerra’s best selling items is the doTerra DigestZen.  A blend of essential oils to tame upset tummies.  Also known as the “tummy tamer,” doTerra has created an essential oil to help aid in digestion and soothe upset stomachs.  It can also be used to maintain overall digestive health.  doTerra DigestZen ingredients include, ginger, fennel, coriander, peppermint, tarragon, anise and caraway.  The peppermint, tarragon anise, and caraway are specifically included to target the gastrointestinal tract.  For those seeking a homeopathic way to treat upset stomachs- the doTerra DigestZen is a great choice.  Essential oils can be administered in many ways- through the air via a diffuser, directly on the skin, or even orally.  For example, if you are prone to motion sickness on a boat or in a car, one could run the doTerra essential oil on the stomach prior to the trip to help combat the unwanted feelings.  If you are trying to soothe the stomach from something you ate, then it can be added to water and taken orally.  doTerra can help sooth and maintain the gastrotestinal tract.

For those with sinus problems, doTerra also has a blended oil designed to help breathing. doTerra Breathe is a blend of laurel leaf, peppermint, eucalyptus, melaleuca, lemon, ravensara, and cardamom.  When used with a difusser, doTerra blended oils help a person maintain feelings of clear airways and easy breathing. Regardless of the season, these oils can be used at anytime and anywhere.  Sometimes while traveling, people can blame their sinuses while driving in a car. However, with portable diffusers, one can change a cheap car scent with the doTerra blended oil to help clear airways while driving.  This unique doTerra blend of this oil contains ravensara oil from Eastern Coast of Africa in a rainforest names Ravensara.  The doTerra oil can attributed to its properties as an anti allergic, anti bacterial, analgesic and relaxant and tonic substance.  The oil is known in Madagascar as the “cure all” oil as much as tea tree oil is popular in America.  The doTerra oil has been used for fighting infections and a great expectorant.  This means it can dilute or loosen phlegm in the respiratory system. For sinuses, doTerra works great in hand with the other oils to help breathing airways clear.

doTerra has a wide variety of essential oils to help provide relief from many ailments.  The doTerra blends mentioned above are my top doTerra choices.  Here are a few more beneficial oils for reference:

  • DoTerra Deep Blue: Muscle and joint support
  • DoTerra Serenity: Well being and relaxation
  • DoTerra Elevation: Revitalization and invigoration

Young Living

Young Living is a company originating from Utah by D. Gary Young and Mary Young.  In 1993, the two developed am organic herb farming and distillation operation.  Depending on the harvest, Young realized that the essential oils varied dependent on the quality of the plants, so he and Mary began to explore all the different essential oils around the world.  In 1994, Young Living developed more farmland in Utah and Idaho for peppermint, lavender, Melissa, clary sage, and many other herbs.   Young Living developed their trademark Seed to Seal process that preserves the integrity and potency of the plants to the essential oil.

One of the most popular Seed to Seal products by Young Living is their NingXia Product.  Young Living NingXia is the province in China where the wolfberry also known as the Goji berry is harvested. The minerals and vitamins found in goji berries include sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, selenium, vitamin C, carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, lutein, lycopene, zeaxanthin, polysaccharides, betaine, and peptidoglycans. Goji berries have been used to help keep a liver healthy as well to improve eyesight in Chinese medicine. The FDA has not evaluated the effects of wolfberries.  However, within Chinese medicine, wolfberry leaves are commonly used to prepare tea and the bark is used to treat inflammatory skin diseases.  Young Living’s NingXia Red 1 oz drink has the same amount of antioxidants levels as: 100 oranges, 22 medium carrots, 10 lbs of spinach, 55 lbs of almonds, 94 apples or 130 tomatoes.  In addition, Young Living has conveniently packed this drink into small packets so that you can take it on the go.
Because of the Young Living Seed to Seal product, the essential oils are higher quality than many other generic oil companies.  For example, the Young Living PanAway essential oil features 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oil. A therapeutic grade essential oil is distilled from plants that are cultivated organically or grown wild in a clean environment. The plants are from a chemical free fertilizer and free of herbicides and pesticides.
Young Living oils do not include chemical solvents and are extracted by steam distillation.  The Young Living PanAway blend features Wintergreen, Clove, Helichrysum and Peppermint.  Young Living Panaway was purposely developed to help treat muscle pain and soothe muscles after a workout. The key ingredient, wintergreen, is known to be pain relieving with a minty like scent.  Young Living extracts wintergreen from north America in their seed to seal process. Other companies may produce this oil from laboratories using methyl salicylate.  That chemical is the main ingredient from wintergreen, and then can be labeled as oil of wintergreen even though it is not derived from the plant at all.

Here are some other Young Living products:

Now Foods

Now Foods originated from a health food store- Dr. Fearn’s.  As a family business, Elwood Richard worked with his Dad and two brothers at the store.  During that time, Elwood developed a protein supplement to help his brother’s distance running training. In 1968, Elwood took his knowledge in health foods and his scientific experience and created Now Foods. From the business perspective, Elwood wanted to make his products affordable to the general products by purchasing bulk raw nutrients and combining them to create the perfect blends at a cheaper price.  That model is still followed by providing a number of Now products at an affordable price, usually about 20-30% lower than their competitors.  With essential oils, Now Foods offers more than 75 varieties of essential oils, including certified organic, 100% pure, blends and kits. Now Foods has an assortment of essential oil types: organic oils, pure oils, blended oils and essential oil kits.
